"We live in a world with so many dangers that we have to be careful whom we trust."
You don't simply wake up one day, thinking "I'm going to save the world today!" No, there are some things that you need to have. More specifically, some powers, a threat, and a plan. This is what The Gatekeepers series, otherwise known as The Power of Five, has, except multiply the powers by 5. They were 5 teenagers in the beginning, all living their somewhat normal lives. One thing they had in common was that none of them were living with their birthparents. Each book of the series tell each character's story, with the exception of Nightrise and Oblivion. Nightrise contains the story of both Scott and Jamie Tyler, who are twins. Oblivion contains the story of all 5 characters as well as the final battle, so this is also an exception. They've all had experiences against The Old Ones, who are led by Chaos. One thing I really liked about this series is how the story is told in many different perspectives, because this allows the readers to understand every character's emotions. New enemies are constantly popping up, and sometimes they're not able to defeat all of them, which is good in its own way because it goes to show how the main characters don't always get their way.
