"Truth is when your mind and your gut agree."
As by tradition, the next princess to the throne is founded by a rite or ritual to find the city or town that the future bride of the prince is living in. Then, the prince will pick the lucky lady of the city or town. The priests have declared that Mount Eskel, a small mountain village, is the home of the future princess. But because all the girls were highly uneducated and lived to work in the quarry, they had created an academy for all girls from ages 12 to 17 to attend for a year, no matter what. Even if they did not want to go, they had no choice. In the beginning, they are treated poorly by their tutor, who is very strict. However, as time goes on, they learn that she is not too bad. The main character, whose perspective the story is written is, goes by the name of Miri. She was one of the girls who did not want to attend the academy, and wanted to help her father around the house because she lost her mother at a young age. In the beginning, she comes off as a troublemaker in the academy. Although by the end, she changes into a totally different girl. She learns a lot in the academy, which turns out to even affect the entire village for the better. One thing that kept me reading was how Miri's character changed through the book. I couldn't wait to find out more about her, and about what happens with her and the prince. Until the end, the author kept making me guess who would become the prince's bride, because it was really difficult to guess. The ending was pretty unexpected, which is what I love in a book. Although the title may seem girly, and you might not be into girly things just like me, this book is not girly at all. This book might not be my absolute favourite, but it's still good enough for me to write about it.
